Breakwater is an American funk and soul band formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1971. Best known for their two albums on Arista Records and the iconic track "Release the Beast," which was sampled by Daft Punk in "Robot Rock." The band's sound blended funk, soul, jazz, and rock with sophisticated horn sections. After disbanding in 1980, they reunited in 2009 and continue to perform live.
